To beat the cyber criminals at their game, law enforcement officials are going to be trained on cryptocurrency and investigation using gamification.
This announcement was made at the on-going cryptocurrency conference hosted at Europol’s headquarters where 300 experts of cryptocurrency are present.
The “cryptocurrency-tracing serious game” is being co-created with CENTRIC (Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence and Organised Crime Research). It is scheduled to be launched in October 2019 at the seventh Europol-INTERPOL Cybercrime Conference.
The authorities are hopeful that this “game” will provide the much needed hands-on training for the law enforcement officers to trace cryptocurrencies during criminal investigations.
Private sector experts and law enforcement officials shared best practices and techniques of the investigation into phishing, thefts of funds, and DDoS extortion.
Europol once again demonstrated the benefits of decentralized ledger technology by issuing all speakers traceable certificates permanently stored in the bitcoin blockchain.
