Pornhub adds Tether as payment option following PayPal ban

Popular adult website, Pornhub adds Tether as a payment option on its platform. The website has decided to update its payment options and has adopted Tether cryptocurrency as a suitable choice. The main cause behind the move can be said to be PayPal withdrawing support from the platform. Now the platform has found a suitable alternative in the stablecoin.

Pornhub adds Tether stablecoin

In a blog post, Pornhub announced that the platform has now added Tether (USDT), the largest stablecoin asset by market value, as its payment option. The post explained that Tether is pegged to the USD “meaning one USDT token is equal to one U.S. dollar.” The platform also highlighted that Tether being a crypto asset can be used from across the globe. The post also noted that transactions can be conducted within seconds and there are no transaction fees.

Pornhub clarified that since USDT and TRON blockchain have entered a partnership, Pornhub can now pay the models through the TRONLink wallet app and attached links for both Google Play Store and Apple Store versions of the app.

TRON CEO Justin Sun retweeted Pornhub’s Tweet while claiming that it was a “brilliant way” to support the people that have been harmed by centralized payment options such as PayPal.

Previously, PayPal decided to stop supporting Pornhub in late 2019 that made Pornhub look for other payment options. At that point, the crypto community made full use of the opportunity to highlight the ‘decentralized’ nature of blockchain-based finance. Among them, TRON CEO Justin Sun, and Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao outlined the opportunity.
