Bitcoin now being taught at one of America’s major universities

TL;DR Breakdown

  • Texas A&M, one of America’s major universities, announces it’s going to start offering a Bitcoin course this year called Bitcoin Protocol.
  • In recent times, the value of a Bitcoin has been acting in a manner that may be described as favorable.

On his Twitter account, Associate Professor Korok Ray of Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School stated that he would be teaching Bitcoin to students enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mays Business School beginning on January 17, when the spring semester begins. The course will be named Bitcoin Protocol.

Ray said in his post on Twitter that the course “Programming Bitcoin” by the open-source programmer and crypto specialist Jimmy Song would adhere to the course. In this course, students will learn how to construct a Bitcoin library from the ground up.

The educator continued by saying that gaining clearance from the appropriate curriculum committee body at the school was not a simple task and that it was the culmination of many months’ worth of laborious effort.

It took months to get this class approved, but we made it! Getting Bitcoin into the curriculum is important for the long game.

Bitcoin keeps getting adopted into Academia

Even if the cryptocurrency market is still experiencing some difficulty, the academic world seems to be placing its bets on the king coin.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cornell University, Harvard University, University of California-Berkeley, University of Oxford, National University of Singapore, and the University of Nicosia are just some of the top universities in the world that are currently offering education related to blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

It is interesting to note that not long ago, a press release was published announcing the establishment of the educational institution Bitcoin College.

It has been reported that the school intends to provide a variety of classes on subjects that range from the basics of BTC to the sophisticated technical underpinnings of the cryptocurrency.

Students will also get an understanding of the history of cryptocurrencies as well as their potential for the future, in addition to learning how to use BTC for their own business ventures.

In addition, classes are offered on topics such as blockchain technology and smart contracts, which are becoming more popular in academic circles.

The school claims that students will get an understanding of the financial and business aspects of the bitcoin sector via its programs.

In relation to BTC, its price has been behaving fairly favorably as of late. As of the time this article was published, the value of one king coin was $20,732, reflecting a gain of 22.46% over the course of the previous week.
