- Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, The Witcher 3’s lead quest designer, wishes to fix some mistakes he believes exist in the game.
- He said the team learned from their mistakes and would avoid them in future projects.
- Tomaszkiewicz has left CDPR after serving the studio for 12 years for the upcoming project Blood of Dawnwalker.
The Witcher 3 lead quest designer has opened up about the aspects he hates in the game and would love to change them if the time could turn back.
Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, the lead quest designer of the popular third edition of The Witcher franchise, shared his dislikes in the game with Gamesradar.
Tomaszkiewicz designed the quests in The Witcher 3, which were loved and enjoyed by the fans, yet the designer “hates” some of the things in them. He didn’t specify what those things were, but he said, “I still have stuff in The Witcher 3 that I hate about how we did it” and “I would love to time travel and fix it.”
The Witcher 3 designer learned from the mistakes
Tomaszkiewicz said the team learned from the mistakes and would avoid them in future projects. He left CDPR in 2021 after working with them for 12 years. During this period, Tomaszkiewicz has also worked as a co-director for Cyberpunk 2077.
Tomaszkiewicz is now working as the lead developer of Rebel Wolves’ Blood of Dawnwalker. It is an open-world RPG based in the dark fantasy world under vampire rule. Coen, the protagonist of the game, is a human/vampire hybrid called Dawnwalker, who can use his vampire powers in the day, unlike pure vampires.
Tomaszkiewicz’s comment is hard to believe from the perspective of fans and critics since The Witcher 3 is one of the favorite titles in the gaming space.
CD Projekt had previously released a couple of titles, but The Witcher 3 performed the best. It not only made the franchise popular in the gaming world but also contributed to the success of the books that inspired it.
The Witcher 4 is the upcoming addition to the series, revealed at The Game Awards 2024. However, no specific release date has been announced yet. Meanwhile, fans are choosing to replay The Witcher 3 to recap the world before proceeding to the next part.
