Yuga Labs just sold two gaming IPs to Faraway. Faraway has worked closely with Yuga on projects like Dookey Dash. Now, the development studio is in control of both Legends of the Mara and HV-MTL.
Why did Yuga Labs sell these NFT games?
After this deal, Yuga Labs is left with two gaming IPs: Otherside powered by The ApeCoin and Dookey Dash. Apparently, Yuga Labs decided to sell its IPs to streamline its focus towards the development of the Otherside. This also means that Faraway is now in control of the associated NFT collections of both the games that it acquired.
Faraway also announced that Spencer Tucker, the Chief Gaming Officer at Yuga Labs will be joining as the new Chief Product Officer at Faraway to help maintain the games continuity. He has previously worked alongside Faraway co-founders on several projects.
What’s next?
Yuga has stated in a press release that it was in talks with Faraway for almost a year. It all started with conversations around Legends of the Mara. From there, both companies transitioned towards Dookey Dash with plans for Evo2, Evo3, and HV-MTL.
It looks like it might be the best decision for HV-MTL and Legends of Mara to be further developed under Faraway. Currently, Yuga Labs is working with the Faraway team to burn the unrevealed HVMTLs in Yuga’s wallet.
The Faraway team is also working on integrating Legends of the Mara and HV-MTL into their Discord server after unveiling a points system.
