CertiK to verify Sui’s bid to beat its own 6 million TPS record

- CertiK will serve as the independent auditor for Sui’s live attempt on October 7 to break its own record of 6,086,766 TPS.
- The firm will review proofs, logs, and journals, then publish a performance report.
- Sui has framed its test as a way to support autonomous-agent payments
Blockchain security firm CertiK will act as the independent auditor when Sui tries to beat its own throughput record of 6,086,766 transactions per second (TPS) in a live test on October 7.
Sui is pitching raw speed as the feature that an economy of autonomous AI agents will demand.
What is CertiK verifying for Sui?
CertiK, which describes itself as the largest Web3 security services provider, is set to be the independent verifier in a test being run by Sui.
The test will run on the main stage at Sui Basecamp 2026, the network’s flagship event held at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore alongside TOKEN2049. Sui is attempting to beat its current record of 6,086,766 transactions per second (TPS), which it achieved on July 4, 2026.
Sui’s blog says the figure peaked around 12:30 p.m. ET during a public livestream and came in at roughly 20 times the network’s previous benchmark of 297,000 TPS.
CertiK will examine proof, execution logs, journals, and other supporting evidence before publishing a performance report on what Sui’s test did and did not demonstrate.
What CertiK will be watching is Sui’s “effective TPS” number. It counts activity that happens off the main blockchain in channels, and only the final result gets recorded on Sui when a channel closes.
Sui says these offchain payment channels work like Lightning Network channels, but they can also handle games, messages, and trades, not just payments. The Sui blockchain has processed nearly $65 billion in stablecoin transactions since June 10, following an update that eliminated fees for stablecoin transfers.
Notably, Sui is offering 10,000 SUI, 5,000 SUI, and 1,000 SUI to the three people whose predictions land closest to the new TPS figure. More details regarding the giveaway are to be posted by Sui on X.
How important is speed to AI agents?
Sui says its ambition to surpass its record throughput is in response to machine-speed commerce rather than a vanity metric. “No market in the world needs 6 million transactions per second: people just don’t move that fast. Agents do,” said Adeniyi Abiodun, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of Mysten Labs, the original contributor to Sui, in the statement.
Sui’s blog names Mysten Labs Co-Founder and Chief Cryptographer Kostas Chalkias as the individual leading the speed test, but the companies’ later statement states that it will be led by Abiodun.
Either way, the exercise lands as agent-driven payments gain traction. Cryptopolitan reported that x402, a protocol for making payments with stablecoins, handled a 2026 high of 8.7 million transfers in the week of August 17.
SUI was trading around $1.20, up nearly 3% on the week ahead of the speed record demonstration. Cryptopolitan’s price prediction has set a high of $2.07 for the token by the end of 2026. The same analysis is calling an average price of $10.83 in 2028, and a rise to to $34.20 by 2031.

FAQs
What record is Sui trying to break?
Sui is attempting to surpass its standing mark of 6,086,766 transactions per second, which Sui says it set on July 4, 2026, during a public livestream experiment.
What is CertiK's role in the attempt?
CertiK will act as the independent auditor, overseeing the test and reviewing proofs, execution logs, journals, and supporting evidence before publishing a performance report on the results.
How is Sui generating such high throughput?
The test measures effective TPS produced through "programmable tunnels," offchain state and payment channels that settle to Sui's mainnet when closed, which Sui likens to the Lightning Network's channels but with broader programmability.
