Trump vows to remove all US sanctions on Russia before they kill the dollar

In this post:

  • Donald Trump says he’ll remove all U.S. sanctions on Russia, claiming they’re damaging the dollar.
  • Dimitri Simes, a former Trump adviser, and his wife are charged with laundering money for Russian state media.
  • President Vladimir Putin humorously endorsed Trump’s opponent Kamala Harris.

Almost immediately after the Justice Department went after his former campaign adviser Dimitri Simes, Republican candidate for U.S. president Donald Trump said he’s going to lift all sanctions on Russia the second he gets back into the Oval.

Why? Because, according to him, they are hurting the American dollar. Simes and his wife Anastasia were charged with working with Russian state media in efforts to manipulate the elections.

They allegedly laundered over $1 million for their services to Russia’s Channel One, even scoring a personal driver and car. Simes has ties with Trump dating back to his 2016 campaign.

Meanwhile, during his speech, Trump added that:

“You’re losing Iran, you’re losing Russia. China is out there trying to get their currency to be the dominant one. You’re going to lose the dominance of the dollar.”

Russia supports Kamala for president

Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin has endorsed Trump’s opponent, the Democratic Kamala Harris for president. In response to a question about his preference at an interview yesterday, he said:

“First of all, [Joe] Biden recommended all his supporters to support Ms. Harris. We previously said Biden was our preferred candidate. So now we will do as he said, we will support her.”

Putin also praised Kamal’s “infectious” laugh and said that means she will be kinder to Russia than both Biden and Trump have been. Though these remarks are considered to be a joke from the president judging by his tone and the expression on his face while he made them.

Putin has always had a thing for Trump, and it’s no secret. In his famous interview with Tucker Carlson, Putin described their relationship as “very good.”

He compared it to his relationship with former George W. Bush, showing no preference between the two. In his words:

“Donald Trump is no worse than any other politician I’ve met.”

Trump’s 2016 campaign benefited from Putin’s frequent compliments. Back then, the latter called the former “bright and talented,” a public show of admiration that raised eyebrows across the globe.

Many see Putin’s fondness for Trump as part of the Russian strategy to pretend it likes America for geopolitical leverage. After all, Russia stands to gain a lot from a strong bond with America.

But the relationship has never been perfect. While Trump praised Putin, he was also hitting Russia with sanctions whenever he deemed them necessary. In his presidency, Trump walked a fine line between appearing pro-Russian and keeping the hawks in Washington off his back.
