Edge & Node released a statement naming Rodrigo Coelho as the new chief executive officer. Coelho, who was part of the initial team behind The Graph, will take over from long-time colleague Tegan Kline.
Edge & Node stated that it will be ‘laser-focused on unleashing’ the full potential of indexing, subgraphs, and decentralized infrastructure under Coelho’s guidance. The Web3 developers also recognized Kline for her dedicated leadership, especially in successfully making the ‘Sunrise’ initiative. Her ability to lead such a complex task ‘will forever be part of The Graph’s DNA’, mentioned the statement. She would also remain on the Edge & Node board in The Graph ecosystem.
According to Edge & Node, Kline would be ‘passing the baton and empowering an early team member’–someone she and the original founders had worked with since ‘day one’.
Edge & Node welcomes a new chapter
The Web3 development team emphasized remaining committed to its founding principles as it entered the next phase with Coelho at the helm. The Edge & Node team said they would continue building decentralized technology that served ‘everyone and anyone’ who needed on-chain data. The team was enthusiastic about the new era of leadership, especially on how it would further catalyze innovation and accelerate worldwide adoption of Web3.
Coelho said Edge & Node and The Graph had remained ‘steadfast’ through the ups and downs of the crypto space, building through bear markets with the same passion that sparked the project at its inception. The statement highlighted Coelho’s approach to every challenge, emphasizing his hands-on, mission-driven ethos, seamlessly adapting to diverse needs–building infrastructure, streamlining processes, or empowering communities.

The statement declared that Coelho will ensure that Edge & Node and The Graph remain the Web3 infrastructure’s backbone no matter the market conditions by doubling down on community empowerment, R&D, and robust partnerships.
Coelho’s deeply rooted Web3 vision promises sustained growth
According to the Edge & Node team, Coelho’s passion for Web3 extended beyond simply building useful tech; he believed that decentralization held the key to unlocking global access and innovation. Coelho’s apps development journey since the 90s–‘when Netscape and Internet Explorer reigned supreme’– and his industrial engineering background have helped him build solutions for Fortune 500 companies.
Coelho became the very first hire at The Graph, which he co-founded with Yaniv Tal after their coincidental meeting at a co-working space in San Francisco back in 2017, and later Edge & Node. “Even after being at Edge & Node and working on The Graph for 7 years, I am still excited about what we are building and looking forward to what we create together,” reminisced Coelho.
Edge & Node suggested that the team would continue to expand The Graph’s capabilities under Coelho’s leadership, fueling a ‘Cambrian’ explosion of dApps and tools for future generations. Coelho’s guidance both at Edge & Node and The Graph led to exponential growth, from new features on The Graph’s technical roadmap to evolving global community initiatives.
Sebastian Lorenz, Edge & Node’s new CTO, recently shared details about the opportunities on The Graph for Soneium builders. Soneium, a joint venture by Sony Block Solutions Labs and The Graph, is a new Ethereum layer 2 connecting Web3 to everyday Web2 services. Lorenz joined The Graph ecosystem on January 13th.
