The leak shows that new controllers still slot in as one does expect from Nintendo’s console. It looks like the console will stick with the genesis of the original Switch design. The Joycons themselves seem longer and bulkier though. This detail adds to what to expect from the upcoming console, implying the Switch 2 could be a larger device.
Switch 2 Joycons reportedly have some new features stealing the spotlight
Not surprising that it’s sticking with the hybrid format. Although the Joycons have some new features stealing the spotlight, revealing that these controllers have more than meets the eye. We have much clearer insights than earlier leaks.
It features an optical sensor (mysterious in its purpose) and a reworked locking mechanism as one standout feature.
Moreover, eagle-eyed fans noticed a serial number in the leaked photos. This detail could also reveal the leaker. However, the serial number doesn’t provide enough details about the product to indicate the images are real.
These new controllers are considerably more robust than the original Joycons. Unlike some other pieces of joy tech, these seem to go straight into the console rather than sliding in, and a button near the shoulder button probably to release them.
There is also another noticeable upgrade; the larger concealed buttons which allow for easier play with just one Joycon.
Even though one can’t really see what the front of the Joycon looks like, these leaks seem to be very promising for the Switch 2, as they imply the controllers will get some big upgrades compared to their predecessor.
