The Nintendo Switch 2 could be far more powerful than most expect. A developer claimed that the console’s hardware is ‘very capable’ and that many will be “pleasantly surprised.”

The Switch 2 has long been the talk of the gaming industry. Some alleged designs of the second edition were also leaked.

Nintendo confirmed it was in development some time ago. They even suggested that it would be announced by March 2025. However, a developer has revealed more details for fans who are awaiting the big reveal. It is still to be seen whether these claims are true.

On the InstallBase forums, a user known as a “trusted developer,” Matt, posted something very important regarding the successor of Nintendo’s console. A user told him Switch 2 wouldn’t be far off from the PlayStation 4 in terms of performance. In reply, he said that Nintendo’s flagship device “is very capable,” and a lot of people are going to be “pleasantly surprised.”

Fans had expected the Switch 2 to be introduced with inferior hardware. Therefore, Matt’s claim suggests that it has more.

Switch 2’s large potential user base would be very lucrative for third-party developers.

Matt added that Nintendo and third-party developers have fully embraced Switch 2 as a real growth opportunity. This means that in launch season, it can have major AAA games. However, Matt says it won’t have many big titles every year.

He also said that, given the current market scenarios, more third-party developers would want to make games for the Switch 2. Given its large potential user base, this would be very lucrative for third-party developers.

Earlier hardware information was also leaked, claiming that the Switch 2 could have 12GB of RAM. Matt explained that the comparison to the Xbox Series S was “incredibly misplaced.”

This is because both these consoles have differences in design and usage, and Switch 2 can be more portable. This makes the comparison of the two consoles unfair and misleading.
