Zayn Malik celebrates birthday with The Last of Us themed cake

Pop star Zayn Malik had the Last of Us-themed birthday cake for his birthday. He shared the eerie Clicker cake with his fans on social media.

On January 12th, Zayn Malik celebrated his 32nd birthday. Being a fan of the Last of Us franchise, Malik ordered a customized “Clicker” The Last of Us birthday cake and posted the pictures on social media to show his fans.

In the game, Clickers are horrible-looking enemies that were once human—infected by Cordyceps in the brain. Clickers are basically the third stage of the mutation, although blinded but very sensitive to sound.

The appearance of Clickers has become common in cosplay art. Zayn Malik seems to find the terrifying look of these creatures edible enough, too. On his Instagram story, he wrote, “Thank you for all the birthday wishes. 32!! I’ve seen the projects you’ve been all creating to help others and couldn’t be more thankful. Thanks for raising funds for causes close to my heart.”

Zayn Malik has proven his love for the gaming world multiple times. In 2020, he collaborated with Harry Potter: Puzzles and Spells, a mobile puzzle game by Zynga. Last year in August, he was the Shadow Duelist in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel live-stream tournament, showcasing his skillset in the card game.

The cake designer was Elizabeth Rowe, aka the London Baker. She is also the winner of the Netflix reality show “Is It Cake?”. This is why the cake turned out to be so realistic—almost as if any sound were made, and the Clicker would wake up.

Apart from the Clicker, the cake also features a wall of Cordyceps as a decoration and Malik’s name. Last year, one fan also created a Clicker cake of his own, showcasing the process video.

Zayn Malik isn’t the first celebrity to express his love for the franchise. Recently, Kayne hyped The Last of Us 2 as “the best game ever” on his Instagram story.

This shows the popularity of Last of Us remains even if the game has been around for over a decade. Much of it can be credited to the repurposed HBO series based on the game. The second season of The Last of Us series is scheduled for April 2025.
