The much-anticipated debate between US presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump turned into a high-voltage showdown. Polymarket data shows that the debate ended in a tie as US Vice President Harris gained 3% while crypto went completely unmentioned.

The 90-minute debate hosted by ABC News started with a polite handshake and quickly turned into a heated exchange of policies and leadership. Highly expected topics like Bitcoin and crypto were not discussed during the debate. However, BTC traded above the $56,000 level during the debate.

Harris gains as Trump loses grip

The discourse, which began with 52% in favor of Donald Trump for winning the Presidential elections, ended up in a tie with 49% for each candidate. Another Polymarket poll shows that 98% of the participating people believe that Kamala won the debate.

Despite the massive crypto influence seen in the 2024 elections, it barely got a mention from both candidates. This comes in when there are multiple crypto-backed super PACs have been making waves in the market. These funds have raised more than $202 million so far with the largest donation being made to Fairshake of $177.8 million.

Fairshake has been quite active during the pre-election campaigns as it poured around $70 million into attack ads against Democratic congressional candidates.

The political memes token reacted quite well as Trump-related cryptos saw a big decline while Harris-linked tokens printed green indexes. The biggest cryptos, Bitcoin and Ether, both recorded a marginal decline over the last day.

Trump Defends Economy Gains!

Harris went all-in on the middle class. She shared her personal story of being a “middle-class kid,” pledging tax cuts for families and deductions for small businesses. In contrast, she portrayed Trump as the “billionaire’s buddy”, focused more on helping the ultra-rich.

The Vice President stated that it is time for a *new generation of leadership* and argued that Trump’s policies were a thing of the past. The former President in a reply mentioned that  80-90% of Americans thought the economy was better under him. YouGov/CBS News polls show that  65% thought the economy was good under Trump.

With just 8 weeks until Election Day, this debate couldn’t have come at a more critical time. Polls show the race is neck-and-neck, and both candidates are fighting hard for every vote.
