Monster Hunter Wilds players encountered a critical bug that blocked the campaign’s progress. Capcom has announced that it will fix this bug tonight in a new patch that will go live on March 4th at 3 a.m. EST/12 a.m. PST.
Monster Hunter Wilds was released on February 28th and became an instant hit with millions of players. Despite the game’s rising popularity, it has been facing players’ complaints regarding performance issues, including in-game bugs.
On March 2nd, Capcom acknowledged the recent bug that players were facing in the main endgame quests.
The bug was not letting a crucial NPC spawn during the “A World Turned Upside Down” quest in the ARPG’s Chapter 5-2. A player is required to interact with this NPC to complete the quest. Therefore, the players were unable to progress forward in the story mode due to this bug.
The bug was found in the game after its launch, as many reviewers finished the game’s story before its release. It is also possible that not all players encountered this issue.
Capcom is fixing the progress bug tonight
Players won’t have to wait too long until Capcom removes the progress bug. The company has announced that another patch will address the issue tonight.
Heads up, hunters: an update is planned to go live on all platforms at 12am PST / 8am GMT on March 4th with fixes for issues with the Ingredient Center, Grill a Meal and story progression in Chapter 5-2 "A World Turned Upside Down".
Once the update is out, any online sessions…

Players are also warned that the upcoming patch will stop all online sessions when released, and they’ll be required to update the game to continue online sessions.
On the other hand, the patch will fix additional issues related to Ingredient Center and Grill a Meal.
Before dealing with this progress-halting bug, Capcom released its first patch for their newly hit game’s PC version. This PC patch (1.000.03.00) fixed the issue related to the continuous tutorials appearing in the game, not allowing players to access some menu options in the Smithy.
Players are still annoyed about Monster Hunter Wilds’ performance issues
Meanwhile, players continue to complain about the game’s performance issues on X under the recent announcement. One user @ebev91 said, “A patch to address performance would be fantastic.”
Another user, @mishsdd, also demanded “a performance patch” and said that “It sucks that devs of today rely on upscalers and frame gen instead actually optimization for native.”
Capcom’s suggestion to update the graphics driver isn’t enough for the players who are awaiting a solution involving better optimization in the game. Despite this issue, the 24-hour peak at the time of this writing is at 1,230,469, according to Steamdb. It’s still not too low from the all-time peak players at 1,384,608, making the Monster Hunter Wilds no.1 seller on the platform.
It is unclear if this momentum will last long, given recurring bugs and performance-related complaints, as the negative reviews on Steam have also reached 47.3%.
