Microsoft officially launched Copilot for Security, an intelligent AI tool that enhances cyber security operations. First launched in Microsoft Secure just a year ago, it is now rolling out to all users as of April 1, 2024. It aims to streamline the threat response processes for security and IT teams. Copilot for Security is an integral new addition to the cybersecurity space.

Pricing and accessibility

This is billed based on consumption and calculated according to the Security Compute Units (SCUs), thereby ensuring customers pay only for consumed resources. An active Azure subscription is required to access Copilot for Security. The service package will contain the basic Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence (MDTI) features, which will come at no extra charge. However, those willing to leverage the full power of MDTI would have to purchase a separate API license.

Features and operational requirements

The Security Copilot is the AI super assistant built to aid security professionals in the daily grind. Whether that be to summarize the security incidents, provide faster response to the incidents, or do the technical reverse engineering of the malware scripts, its capabilities will aid you in every aspect. This not only enhances vulnerability identification but also strengthens the overall security posture. Users need a subscription from Azure for deployment. To gain the maximum value from the service, Microsoft advises users to provision at least 3 SCUs every hour. This can be achieved by visiting the Copilot for Security portal or directly from the Azure platform.
