  • Hellblade 2 will allegedly be getting a physical release across Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
  • The game was developed by Ninja Theory and released in May 2024, with a new listing showing it would be published by Limited Run Games.
  • According to a PlayStation store listing for Hellblade 2, the game would come optimized with added features and immersive haptic feedback.

According to an ESRB listing of Hellblade 2, the game will get a physical release across Xbox Series X and PS5. A PlayStation store listing said the game will have extra features for PS5. PlayStation added that the game will also offer immersive haptic feedback.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will reportedly be getting a physical launch across PS5 and Xbox Series X. A recent post by ESRB showed Ninja Theory’s sequel will be published by Limited Run Games, but not Microsoft, as widely anticipated.

According to the listing, Hellblade 2 has been rated mature 17+. The game also has intense violence and strong language. The game was launched for Xbox Series X/S and Windows on May 21 last year. A PS5 edition will be launching in the summer of 2025.

Microsoft says Hellblade 2 will come optimized

Microsoft said Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 would be optimized for PS5. The tech affirmed that the title will have additional features for PS5. The tech firm said the new features will provide gamers with new ways to experience the next chapter of Senua’s story.

The company also mentioned that the game will feature a crafted cinematic immersion. Microsoft promised gamers that Hellblade 2 will come with beautiful visuals and perfect sound to ensure gamers experience Senua’s story in an immersive way.

According to Ninja Theory, Hellblade 2 was created to be an action-adventure title. The game will have the concepts and gameplay elements of its predecessor. Hellblade 2 will also feature the use of puzzles and runes to advance, as well as a new fighting system. The title comes with realistic physics and dynamic weather systems affecting exploration and combat.

The software giant said the game features real locations with stunning details. Ninja Theory stated that the new features for Hellblade 2 will also be available as a free update for gamers on Steam, Xbox PC, and Xbox Series X|S. The firm stated that the game has already won different awards, so gamers should expect an award-winning experience.

LRG reveals the reason behind physical editions

The game was officially released on Switch in 2019, receiving positive reviews across platforms. A different ESRB listing suggested a possible physical launch of the original Hellblade for Nintendo Switch. The listing showed that Limited Run Games will still be the publisher. On its website, Limited Run Games (LRG) revealed it was a publisher focused on collector-style game releases.

LRG stated that it published physical versions of games that would otherwise remain available for online purchase. The publisher recently released the physical version of the Gex Trilogy remaster, which included a physical inflatable Gex Doll. LRG also announced it was working on a special launch for G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance.

The publisher said the games will feature improved analog controls and widescreen resolution. LRG added that the games will come in three editions: Standard, Classic, and Tail Time, especially for the Gex Trilogy. The firm stated that these editions will have different goodies for game collectors who like the Gex franchise. Gamers have been speculating that Hellblade 2 will have the same level of quality as the Gex Trilogy.

The publisher said physical games are being deprioritized. LRG added that it aims to preserve the releases to offer an array of physical artifacts for gamers and fans. The company said that it wants to satisfy collectors who love tangible artifacts.

LRG stated that it thinks gamers’ library should be on a shelf instead of a digital page. The company added that its games are made for gamers who care deeply about their history. LRG said it has achieved milestones, such as publishing over 1,000 physical and digital titles. The firm highlighted indie gems, cult classics, and retro re-releases as some of the games it has published.
