Deadlock โ which is still in development, has a long list of adjustments in the latest patch notes shared on the website. The most attention-worthy of these updates was the unique anti-cheat system, which tackles cheaters in a sweet revenge style.

Valveโs upcoming hero shooter game is facing a cheater problem despite being in its beta phase. According to SteamDB, Deadlock has already gained popularity on Steam and has attracted over 150,000 gamers. The popularity has reportedly attracted more rule breakers, and the developer has devised a novel way to deal with the issue.
Deadlock introduced a new patch that provides gamers with two options to combat cheaters. Once the new anti-cheat system detects a rule breaker, the opposing team can ban the cheater immediately or turn the cheater into a frog.ย
According to the developer, if a player decides on the second option, the cheater will only be allowed to hop around in the match, only to get banned by the end. It added that the cheaters would turn into frogs and be defenseless once allowed to hop around.ย
Deadlockโs fans have responded positively to the game, and the new anti-cheat system has gained a few laughs across various platforms.ย

However, some players remained doubtful about the anti-cheat system. One player stated on Reddit;
โSomeoneโs going to find a way to turn this frog into that Baldurs Gate 3 terror and solo win the match.โ
Ex-Counter-Strike developer Burton Johnsey compared the new Deadlock anti-cheat feature with Valveโs FU Suprise mode. Johnsey highlighted that FU Suprise mode turned cheaters into chickens but was never released.ย

In a forum post, Deadlockโs developer Yoshi revealed that the new system is still nascent, with reduced detection levels as Valve works on further developments. The developer added that it would turn on user banning a few days after the update.ย
He also highlighted that the terminated matches would not affect other gamers in the lobby. If the opposing team chooses to continue the game with a team member as a frog, the matchโs results will be disregarded to create a leveled playing field.ย
Valve also introduced a new hero in the latest patch called Mirage as part of the tweaks. Mirage is a wind-based character with damage and crow control abilities. The gameโs initial team introduced Mirage as the third hero after Viscous and Shiv.ย
