TL;DR

Cryptopia, the Newzealand based exchange was hacked earlier this year, and the operations have been shut down since. However, the exchange has finally released the estimate of their loss to be around nine and a half percent (9.4%). The tweet came from the official Cryptopia account with a little more insight into the current situation.

The exchange also revealed that it is taking all precautionary measures including a thorough security check for each wallet before the operations are resumed in order to ensure that another hack would not be possible. It also warned users not to add any funds to their old Cryptopia addresses with a promise to provide an update on 28th of February, 2019.

Twitter users, on the other hand, are now a little skeptic of the exchange and the activities that have taken place since the hack. Twitterati Alex Crypto mocked the exchange with a fake Cryptopia reopening announcement on the 29th of February this year, however, ironically enough this is not a leap year.

Users are also growing weary of the prolonged delay in responses, updates, and lack of access to the exchange. A user on twitter had complained tot he media outlet through twitter to report the issue since thousands of people are suffering due to the prolonged dilemma. Hendrik Merwe expressed on Twitter that the Newzealand police has returned the operational control of the exchange to the company. However, their silence is almost criminal in nature. His statement came on the 25th of February 2019.

The exchange had unofficially clarified their position yesterday through a telegram post that revealed the current situation at the exchange with updates on the delay with the explanation that the exchange cannot be reopened without proper estimation of their losses.
