Church goes on sale for Bitcoin

TL;DR

One hundred and forty-eight (148) year-old church goes on sale for Bitcoin in Darlington. Darlington is a city located in northern England. The church has a selling price of 1.2 million pounds.

The vendor has also added Bitcoin (BTC) as a method of payment for the purchase. The vendor added that the price in Bitcoin is variable and would depend on the market price of Bitcoin at the time of sale.

The vendor is Finest Properties, an independent estate agency that focuses on marketing properties with unique features. They live up to the claim while marketing a literal church that has now been converted to a house with seven bedrooms.

Regardless, the ‘church’ is still intact as all of its features have been preserved. These include the stained glass, the spire, and the tower outside, as well as a pipe organ and few religious statues.

The church is known as St Laurence’s Church and was built in 1871. Darlington based architect JP Pritchett designed the church. It is presumed that few people are attending it now. That’s probably the reason why they are selling the church. However, it is unclear who is getting the money or who made the decision to sell it.

This has become a common occurrence in the UK (except the Bitcoin part) with Churches being sold across the region. Some churches have stopped opening while others only open only for an hour on Sunday. This is also occurring in cities where homeless people are rampant, and instead of finding the embrace of the church, they are left outside in the cold.
