Bitcoin Tipping app Tippin.me heads on to iOS and Android

TL;DR

As if tipping in Bitcoins on Twitter wasn’t cool enough, Tippin.me will make it easier with Bitcoin tipping app. The company has announced on Twitter that it will build a mobile app for sending Bitcoins to anyone using Twitter.

Tippin.me, a Bitcoin micropayment platform, will launch the ‘alpha’ version of the Android app that will enable users to tip other Twitter users using a Lightning Network-enabled mobile wallet. The application will be first launched on Android Play Store, but the firm will soon launch it on iOS as well.

Their earlier efforts have been received well by the industry and the users who have welcomed the integration of Twitter with cryptocurrency payments. No wonder, the official tweet posted on 30 August is going viral.

Bitcoin tipping app poised to get bigger

Spanish designer and architect Sergio Abril launched Tippin.me in February 2019 and initially is was just a browser extension. But the idea to tip on Twitter was way too important to be ignored. It allowed users with minimal exposure to the crypto realm be tipped in Bitcoins via Twitter.

The browser extension quickly built a huge fan following – 14,000 users to be precise – and heralded the entry of Twitter into the digital currency space. Jack Dorsey, Twitter founder, too endorsed the extension since it extended Twitter’s reach to the financial realm. Its users have termed it game-changing in nature that can further help push Bitcoin penetration into the general public’s psyche.

The app will be powered by ‘The Lightning Network’. Even though it is still in development, it offers high speed and economical payments. The USP is that these payments are initially not on the blockchain network, but their eventual enforcement occurs on blockchain, thereby keeping them secure for end-users.

Since the idea of a bitcoin tipping app is revolutionary by nature, it is sure to witness the competition. Brave browser has launched another Twitter-based tipping service. It makes use of Brave’s Basic Attention Token (BAT) to allow users to tip other Twitter users.

It looks like Bitcoin tipping wars are just about to get started.
