YouTube has launched a new advanced AI-powered tool for removing copyrighted music from videos without impacting other audio elements, designed especially for content creators. The new tool known as “erase song” is expected to provide a more accurate solution to deal with copyright claims improving the platform’s capabilities to assist creators in managing their content effectively.

The AI tool comes after YouTube found that the previous versions were less precise than they should have been. The firm notes that the new tool will allow creators to address copyright issues more efficiently, ensuring smoother content management and monetization.
YouTube develops AI to tackle copyright issues
The new update marks a significant shift in how YouTube handles copyright management. The updated algorithm powered by artificial intelligence enhances its ability to detect and remove copyrighted music accurately. This update addresses previous limitations where the tool struggled with precision, often failing to isolate and remove only the copyrighted music without affecting other audio elements.

Creators have two options within the “erase song” tool: either remove all claimed parts or mute audio across claimed segments. This dual functionality gives creators more flexibility in managing their content and resolving copyright claims. In a case where the AI tool fails, creators can still choose to mute the sound entirely or trim the affected segments.
YouTube upgrades tools for creators
YouTube’s recent updates show commitment to supporting creators by offering them advanced tools needed to navigate through complex copyright laws. Neal Mohan, who serves as Chief Product Officer at YouTube, acknowledged this fact via his social media post, where he further stated that they were continuously working on enhancing tools used for managing content. The application of AI technology under “erase song” forms part wider strategy aimed at improving user-friendliness within Youtube.
