TUM Blockchain Conference 26 brings Europe’s digital asset ecosystem to Munich from 29 to 31 October

Munich, September 2026. The TUM Blockchain Conference returns for its fourth edition, running from 29 to 31 October at the House of Communication in Munich. What started in 2023 has grown into a three day programme spanning academic research, protocol engineering, industry adoption and financial regulation, and this year’s edition is the most extensive programme to date.
The programme is built around three pillars. The First Conference Day on 29 October brings together researchers, protocol teams, founders and industry practitioners on one stage, spanning the full arc from academic research to production systems and regulation. The Digital Assets Day on 30 October is curated by Bundesblock, the German Blockchain Association, and turns the focus toward institutional adoption, market infrastructure and the regulatory environment that European digital asset businesses now operate in. Running alongside both, the 32 hour Blockchain & AI Hackathon opens on 30 October and closes on 31 October, one of the biggest hackathons in the European blockchain calendar.
The Blockchain & AI Hackathon is deliberately open. Workshops run throughout, mentors are on site for the full duration, and participants without any blockchain background are explicitly invited. The prize pool currently stands at over 4,000 euros and continues to grow as more partners join.
The last edition welcomed more than 1,200 attendees and over 125 speakers, and the conference has established itself as one of the larger blockchain events hosted at a European university. Attendees come from a deliberately mixed set of backgrounds: students and doctoral researchers alongside protocol engineers, founders, corporate innovation teams, investors, and representatives from financial institutions and regulatory bodies. That mix is the point. Few events in the European calendar put a cryptography researcher, a compliance officer from a bank and a protocol founder in the same room for three days.
The timing matters. European digital asset regulation has moved from proposal to practice, and the questions facing the industry have shifted accordingly: less about whether institutions will engage with digital assets, more about the infrastructure, custody arrangements and compliance frameworks that engagement requires. The Digital Assets Day is designed around exactly those questions, and the partnership with Bundesblock brings the policy and industry association perspective directly into the programme.
Beyond the main venue, a series of side events and an after party run across the city over the three days, organised together with partners from the Munich and wider European ecosystem. The conference was born at the Technical University of Munich and is hosted by the TUM Blockchain Club e.V.
