Vietnam increasingly turns to crypto for banking

The firm is leveraging its recently established education unit, Tether EDU in this initiative meant to boost awareness of blockchain technology in the country working with the help of VBA.

The Ho Chi Minh City-based VBA hosts nationwide workshops and conferences and promotes blockchain technology. It serves as the blockchain hub for interested individuals.

“As a leading voice in blockchain adoption, the Vietnam Blockchain Association’s work aligns well with our mission to promote education in blockchain,” said Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino.

“We are excited to collaborate with VBA to educate about blockchain technologies as practical solutions to the unique challenges faced by Vietnamese communities,” added Ardoino.

The collaboration also comes as Vietnam’s adoption of cryptocurrency and the blockchain technology continues to gain serious traction. The country was last year ranked third largest cryptocurrency gainer in the world after the US and UK with nearly $1.8 billion. This makes Vietnam one of the five Asian countries in the top 10 countries for cryptocurrency gains.
