Question 1

What is COLOSSUS-X?

Accepted Answer

COLOSSUS-X is a proof-of-work mining architecture from Cypherium built for high-memory AI hardware instead of specialized ASIC miners, designed to let AI data centers earn mining rewards on GPUs that are not running training or inference, according to the company's statement.

Question 2

How does Cypherium's Compute Index relate to CME's compute futures?

Accepted Answer

Both aim to put a tradable price on computing power. CME Group launched compute futures on October 5, 2026 tracking Silicon Data's Nvidia GPU rental indexes, while Cypherium's Compute Index would be an on-chain reference price that could settle derivatives tied to compute costs.

Question 3

Are Bitcoin miners already combining mining with AI?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Bitdeer says it will keep mining alongside a 16-year Anthropic compute deal, while Keel, formerly Bitfarms, exited mining entirely by shutting its last sites on June 29 and will report no mining revenue in the third quarter, per Cryptopolitan.
