Shift Up says the game would perform better on PC than PS5
Shift Up noted that Stellar Blade was a massive success, earning the Korean developer about $43 million in royalties. During its earnings call last year, Shift Up revealed it was considering a PC version of Stellar Blade. The firm added that the PC version was expected to perform better commercially on PC than the PS5 version, which sold over 1 million copies after two months of launch. Shift Up also confirmed it planned to release the PC version in 2025.
Shift Up’s statement read in part, “The release is being considered within 2025. Considering recent trends such as Steam’s expanding market share in the AAA game sector and the global success of Black Myth: Wukong, we expect the performance on PC to exceed that on consoles,”
The firm also offered an update on its debut game and explained that it planned to maintain the IP’s popularity until the release of its PC edition. Shift Up said that after the game was launched as a PS5 exclusive, sales progressed at a stabilized rate through Q3. The firm added that it consistently released content updates and patches to improve the IP value and maintain its momentum.
The Korean developer added that it had identified and analyzed various successful and underperforming releases of console exclusives launched on PC. The developer said it was preparing to launch the action game in a way that maintained continued success, especially in the PC market.
Shift Up noted that it considered optimizing and improving user convenience on the Stellar Blade game. The firm added that it would optimize the game to ensure smooth gameplay, even in Steam Deck environments. The developer revealed that it intended to add some supplementary content. The Stellar Blade developer also said it would adopt customized marketing strategies unique to Shift Up.
