Anthony Scaramucci, known for his whiplash-inducing flip-flops in political allegiance and opinions, is now trying to be a guiding light for crypto voters.
But let’s be real. This is the guy who couldn’t last more than eleven days in the White House.
His knack for changing his tune faster than most people change their socks makes him the last person who should be advising anyone on anything, let alone the future of Bitcoin.
Anthony was all smiles and handshakes at the Singapore TOKEN2049, where he announced that he and a bunch of crypto insiders are supposedly working with Kamala Harris on her campaign’s crypto policies ahead of the elections.
According to him, the goal is to move the DNC away from the anti-crypto rhetoric of people like Senator Elizabeth Warren and SEC Chair Gary Gensler.
These two have been relentless in their crackdown on crypto, making them Public Enemy No. 1 and No. 2 in the community.
But Kamala working with Anthony? That’s a red flag right there.
Scaramucci changes his allegiances frequently
Anthony’s track record is more erratic than a meme coin’s price chart.
He started off as a Trump supporter, joining the administration in 2017 as the White House Communications Director.
Barely two weeks later, he was shown the door by Trump’s then Chief of Staff, John Kelly.
What followed was a media circus, with Anthony calling Reince Priebus, Trump’s then Chief of Staff, a “fucking paranoid schizophrenic.”
Just months later, he was on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ calling Trump a “grifter.” And let’s not forget his previous failed attempts to change government policies.
He was appointed to the White House Office of Public Liaison and Intergovernmental Affairs, only to have the appointment delayed over conflict-of-interest concerns involving his stake in SkyBridge Capital.
He didn’t even get the role in the end. It’s like the guy is allergic to stability. Why should crypto voters trust someone who can’t keep his own career steady?
Kamala doesn’t care about crypto
Anthony claims he’s been in talks with Kamala Harris, saying that they’re making progress.
That’s a nice soundbite, but where’s the substance? Kamala has made it a point to ignore the crypto industry completely.
She has never said anything about crypto publicly, so we don’t even know where she stands for sure. Her campaign didn’t even respond to Cryptopolitan’s hundredth request for comment.
Who can blame the community for automatically assuming that she, like her friend and partner Joe Biden, is also anti-crypto?
It’s hard to ignore how Anthony’s involvement with Kamala could backfire. She’s already been under fire from within her own party, and now she’s supposedly getting advice from someone who can’t seem to pick a side and stick to it.
Trump, on the other hand, has made the crypto community his own private party.
He was a keynote speaker at the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville in July, where he vowed to never sell the federal government’s Bitcoin holdings.
He even had the idea of making the U.S. the “crypto capital of the planet.”
In typical Trump fashion, he followed that up by launching a new crypto project, World Liberty Financial, which seems like it’s going to be some kind of crypto banking platform, though with shady details.
Anthony said:
“Whatever my feelings are about President Trump, I applaud him for understanding how important this industry is for the United States.”
When he got fired, Anthony went on a tirade against the “jackasses” in Congress and the “people in Washington” who “try to caricaturize you, and dehumanize you, so that you lose your voice.”
He went on to say that people in Washington “have no money,” and when that happens, “they write about what seat they are in and what the title is.”
He also got tangled in a CNN story that linked him to a $10 billion Russian investment fund. CNN had to retract the story and issue an apology after Anthony’s strong denials and legal threats.
Three CNN journalists resigned over the report.
In 2020, he joined a group of Republican operatives to launch Right Side PAC, a super PAC to prevent Trump’s re-election and support Biden.
Trump, being Trump, responded with a series of tweets attacking Anthony.
So, the guy who flip-flopped on Trump, launched a PAC to defeat him, endorsed the anti-crypto Biden, and is now cozying up to the Democrats for obviously personal reasons, wants to tell crypto voters what’s best for them?
I don’t think so.
If Anthony actually loved Bitcoin, he’d be pushing for bipartisan regulations, like Arthur Hayes, Vitalik Buterin, and Charles Hoskinson are doing. Politics should actually have no place in crypto.
