Respawn has released a new update to resolve matchmaking issues that had affected Apex Legends Season 24. The patch is the second update released by Respawn in the last two days. EA Games, the game’s publisher, also revealed that it was working on an Apex Legends 2.0 update.
Apex Legends is among the most popular battle royale shooter games in the market. Since its release in 2019, Respawn Entertainment has been working around the clock to ensure that gamers have the best possible experience. The developer recently released updates aimed at resolving several issues that disrupted normal gameplay.
Respawn Entertainment releases “matchmaking” patch
We just pushed an update to @PlayApex to fix some matchmaking issues that went live today. The following errors should now be resolved:
-Being unable to leave/join a match
-Not gaining RP after a Ranked match
-Getting the error message "Unable to find party server"— Respawn (@Respawn) February 25, 2025
Respawn Entertainment announced that it released a new update on February 26, 2025. According to the developer, the new update will resolve some matchmaking issues that had been recently identified during Season 24. Respawn stated that the update would fix issues such as players being able to leave/join a match. The patch would also resolve the issue of gamers not gaining RP after a ranked match. The developer added that the patch will resolve “Unable to find party server” error messages.
The update released is the second one pushed by Respawn in two days to resolve issues that cropped up after Season 24 launched in February. The first patch was focused on fixing stability issues and crashes, which mainly affected Xbox and Nintendo Switch gamers. The patch resolved issues associated with Ash’s dash, visual delays, the loss of mythic R-301 attachments, incorrect RP in match summaries, crashes when playing on Xbox Series S/X consoles, and crashes when updating the video settings on Nintendo Switch.
Respawn’s actions came after the developer had stated that Season 24 would feature improvements aimed at matchmaking and anti-cheating. Respawn revealed plans to eliminate teaming and botting in the game, with the involved perpetrators getting their RP points deducted. The Apex developer also announced that it had deployed a machine-learning model to help nab players using bots. The blog also introduced new matchmaking features, such as an unranked skill display and seeding skill values that are set to be integrated into the game in the near future.
EA Games, the publisher behind Apex Legends, also revealed that a big update for the game was in the works. Speaking during the publisher’s latest quarterly earnings call, CEO Andrew Wilson referred to the update as “Apex 2.0” and revealed that it would be released after the next Battlefield game launch slated for early 2026 to prevent an overlap. However, no particular details about the update were provided at the time, leaving gamers to speculate on the details of its contents.
Gamers react to new Apex Legends patches
Many Apex Legends gamers online quickly responded after Respawn announced the new patch. Despite the patch being released, gamers had many complaints about bugs that had disrupted their gaming experience.
Some players called for Respawn to fix bugs related to ranking loss. The gamers in question complained about their ranking being reset to rookie after installing the update. Some gamers also complained about continued connectivity issues that were highlighted by “Unable to connect to EA Servers” and “This profile is not permitted to play online” error messages after the update.
Some gamers also listed other unresolved bugs that they had identified in the game. The gamers complained about the game’s audio quality, saying that it was sub-par for a game that had been operational for over half a decade.
Other gamers complained about a bug affecting Ballistic’s rampage buff, which prevented the character from shooting for a while. Another section of gamers made requests to Respawn. The gamers asked the developer to implement the new matchmaking adjustments to all game modes and not just limit it to ranked mode.
