  • Top 10 developers will have a chance to launch DeFi Mini Dapps on LINE Messenger, which has over 194M active monthly users, and win parts of a $170K direct prize fund.
  • The Foundation said its partnership with LINE NEXT and Tether will bring Web3 to the fingertips of hundreds of millions of users across Asia.

Kaia announced a partnership with Tether and LINE NEXT as the three plan to co-host the August 25 Hackathon. The top ten builders will get the chance to launch Kaia USDT-powered Mini DeFi projects for LINE Messenger’s 194M active monthly users and win up to $1M in investment credits.

Kaia said the hackathon is designed to enable mainstream users, particularly those on LINE Messenger, to engage in stablecoin-driven yield-generating activities like trading and staking. The Kaia chain aims to connect and support all available stablecoins to ensure users get the best experience while tapping into its business network and Web3 ecosystem. The chain’s team believes this will be a great way to promote stablecoin adoption across Asia and beyond.

Kaia recently filed for four trademarks, KaKRW, KRWKaia, KRWGlobal, and KRWGL, anticipating its launch of a KRW-backed family of stablecoins. News about Kaia’s KRW-pegged stablecoin trademarks went viral after the Korean Intellectual Property Office published a notice about them last week.

Dr. Sam Seo, the Chairman of the Kaia DLT Foundation, also pointed out that collaborating with LINE NEXT and Tether would help his company connect with global stablecoin DeFi projects. He added that the builder-focused event will help develop stablecoin Mini DeFi Dapps for millions of LINE’s users.

“Through various developer engagement events, we aim to identify groundbreaking Dapps to lead the Kaia ecosystem and grow collaboratively.”

Kaia’s Chairman, Dr. Seo, recently said Kaia DLT Foundation will do its best to enable the issuance of KRW stablecoins on the Kaia chain. He mentioned that Kaia had already onboarded native USDT on the Kaia Chain. Seo added that the Stablecoin Summer was just beginning.

Kaia also disclosed that it was not operating in isolation and that it was in ongoing discussions with domestic financial institutions to spread the adoption of KRW-pegged stablecoins. It pointed out that this collaborative approach will build trust and ensure regulatory compliance.
