Now using Google’s Gemini is quite easier, as the company has made it more accessible. Google has integrated its generative AI chatbot into Chrome’s address bar, according to the most recent update.
Gemini in Chrome
This means that you don’t have to go to Gemini’s dedicated website, as users only need to enter the @ symbol in the address bar to get access.
Typing @ will give users the option to “chat with Gemini,” which, once selected, can get Gemini added to the address bar.
Making it easy as a basic function definitely makes sense as it widens the use purpose of the address bar of Chrome, which is currently used for entering URLs, conducting a web search, and also for changing the browser’s settings. But now users will have an easier option to incorporate Gemini into their daily online tasks, as Google said.
“Quickly start your chat with Gemini using the new shortcut in the Chrome desktop address bar.”
Chrome was already getting AI updates
Back in January this year, Google announced that Chrome would be getting three generative AI features, but they were for public experimentation and were not available for enterprise and educational accounts at that time.
Those features included a smart way of organizing tabs, in which Chrome automatically suggested tab groups based on the tabs opened in the browser. This helped organize tabs for those who were working on multiple tasks.
Another feature was the ability the ability to create themes of your liking with AI, including customizing Chrome with the photos you uploaded. A feature to help in drafting on the web was also introduced that is useful in articulating your thoughts when writing on public forums.
Google was supposedly testing the easily accessible feature for Gemini in April, but now it is available to the public as Google has rolled out Gemini to more than 150 countries around the globe. The latest feature of adding it to the address bar is not as detailed as the features mentioned above, but we think it will impact the future of Chrome more than any other feature, and that in a positive way.
According to the statistics, nearly 65% of the browsing is conducted through the Chrome browser of Google, so the integration has a vast potential for Google Gemini adoption as it will be available at the fingertips, and it may also gain some portion of the traffic that goes to ChatGPT.
