Dale Chrystie, the senior blockchain executive of FedEx is sceptical about the advantages of blockchain technology and is therefore reluctant to use this in the company. FedEx Corporation is the American multinational courier delivery services company headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee.
FedEx still makes use of traditional methods for shipping processes and operations. The firm’s blockchain strategist, Dale Chrystie revealed that the company has done certain efforts in the past to collaborate with blockchain technology but so far, not able to effectively get there. He said that blockchain technology is still taking baby steps and is not a mature database.
The growth and the positive momentum in the blockchain sector are tremendous and people are now accepting this technology largely. The FedEx CEO Fred Smith and CIO Rob Carter both are holding this view that though the blockchain technology is new and not much mature yet, it has a lot of potential of growth. The advantage is that it provides less friction and more security in the movement of things across the border.
Chrystie elaborated that any technology can be made effective by effective teamwork and collaboration. A lot of effort is required to establish a business model which can only be possible by mutualism.
There are many projects which are under discussion and some of them are completed effectively and there is wide-scale acceptance of utilizing this technology is supply chain and shipping sector.
Therefore, FedEx is also striving to get the maximum benefit from this technology and has collaborated with enterprise Hyperledger in September 2018 and also joined hand with Canadian blockchain Research Institute.
