  • Bethesda dropped the Oblivion Remaster without warning today, April 22, 2025.
  • The game is playable now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
  • The release includes the base game plus Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, and every DLC for €55.

Bethesda has finally revealed the long‑rumored remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion with a first‑look gameplay video released today. Fans and new players can now see how this open‑world RPG has been updated nearly twenty years after its original debut.

In the nearly ten‑minute online video, Bethesda’s development team takes viewers behind the scenes of the remaster’s creation.

The footage highlights new high‑resolution textures, overhauled lighting and weather systems, and redesigned character models. Developers confirmed the project runs on Unreal Engine 5, a change from the studio’s own Creation Engine. Virtuous, a studio known for its work on both remakes and remasters, is handling the bulk of the development under Bethesda’s guidance.

Oblivion Remaster is now available with all the DLC content

Todd Howard, Bethesda’s CEO, spoke about the goals for the Oblivion Remaster. He said that the team wanted to honor everything that made the original special while giving it a fresh look. “We’ve rebuilt nearly every asset by hand so players can rediscover Cyrodiil in a better way,” he explained.

Howard pointed out how the studio has grown since the first release, noting that advances in technology allowed them to bring an old favorite to modern standards.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion first launched on PC and Xbox 360 in March 2006, before arriving on PlayStation 3 in March 2007. Set in the fantasy province of Cyrodiil, the story follows a player‑created hero who must shut down portals to the demonic realm of Oblivion and stop a fanatical cult from unleashing monsters across the land. The game built a reputation for its rich open world, memorable characters, and deep role‑playing options.

All of the original expansions are included in this package.
