Disney announces its new mobile game, Disney Pixel RPG

The media giant Disney has announced its new Pixel RPG mobile game. The game will feature Disney’s wide array of classic characters. Players will be able to launch the free-to-play title in Japan, but Disney has yet to announce if it will get a global release.

Disney has announced a new free-to-play game, Disney Pixel RPG. The game is set to hit the Japanese market in a soft launch planned for September 9th. Players battle against each other in the game using the various iconic Disney characters in a picturesque background. 

GungHo Online Entertainment plans for Japanese soft launch

True to previous practices, the game came about after Disney licensed its IPs to a third-party game development company. As a result, Japanese company GungHo Online Entertainment took on and developed the project that is set to soft launch in Japan.

The entertainment company is famous for its previous titles, Grandia and Puzzles and Dragons. Disney Pixel RPG will aim to piggyback on the developer’s previous success with mobile games. The game is expected to be a casual Role-Playing Game with auto-battling mechanics. The game also features character customization and other undisclosed features.

Preview versions are set to be available for both Android and iOS devices. The game’s developers also announced that it will be optimized for tablets to give users the best experience possible when battling with their favorite characters. 

GungHo announced that it would offer incentives to gamers by allowing them to win just by pre-registering. The firm also said that users who pre-register will stand a chance to win a ¥10,000 Amazon gift card later this summer. 

Gamers can pre-register from the Google Play Store or the iOS App Store. However, despite many of the game’s promotional materials being in English, GungHo has yet to unveil whether the game will be released beyond Japan’s borders.

Disney Pixel RPG brings classic Disney characters to battle

The game’s release was followed up with a list of some of the playable characters. The characters include Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Goofy, Winnie the Pooh, Baymax, Stitch, Maleficent, and the Genie from Aladdin.

The game is set to introduce “slapstick strategy battles,” where the players will form a team of three. The game will also feature other modes outside its main story mode. These player modes will include expeditions and resource-gathering quests that the players can complete between playing sessions.

The game is also set to introduce a hub area for players to interact with their parties. The area will allow users to meet up online and talk as they immerse themselves in the game. Other than these developments, the specifics of the game’s character collection and its mechanics are yet to be unveiled.
