  • Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao burns valuable meme tokens, sending four assets to a dead address.
  • Zhao did not follow Vitalik Buterin’s approach of dumping meme tokens, often crashing the price.
  • BNB Smart Chain had a revival, surpassing Ethereum and Solana for token-based activity.

Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao sent multiple valuable meme tokens to a burn address. He stated his preference for burning the assets instead of selling and donating to charity.

Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao has decided to burn meme tokens received as donations instead of selling them. Recently, Zhao burned $1.95M in TUT tokens, $547K BROCCOLI, and $1.1M in Broccoli-caab. Zhao announced he is seeking a way to clear his wallet of all donations, possibly automating the process.

The tokens gained exposure through Four.meme and the Binance ecosystem and have been fighting for more exposure and eventual additions to Binance Alpha or even full listings. Despite this, Zhao decided to distance himself from the tickers by destroying his holdings.

Zhao also burned Mubarakah (MUBARAKAH) token worth $358.22K. For now, Zhao still uses a public dead address to burn the tokens. This may be the best approach, as some tokens may also incur significant fees or be linked to malicious smart contracts. So far, Zhao still retains assets from other small projects.

The Tutorial (TUT) tokens were sent to Zhao by the project’s developer. Recently, TUT was part of the vote to list the token on Binance, along with BROCCOLI and MUBARAK.

The token holders of TUT and several smaller projects with similar tickers used the vote to also send some of their assets to Zhao for exposure. TUT was also among the tokens with the biggest mindshare in the past few days. TUT is currently in its price discovery stage, trading near its higher range at $0.04.

Zhao stated he has no intention of hurting a project that made a request for attention. A sale would hurt token holders in the short term, he stated. Zhao’s wallet also receives occasional BNB payments and donations, including fees for the ReachMe protocol.

He stated his preference for destroying the tokens instead of selling, despite the relatively high value of the holdings. In this, he chose the opposite path of Vitalik Buterin, who usually sheds meme tokens quickly, often crashing the price.

The sale of tokens for charity was also seen as a short-lived trend that hurt investors. The recent drive to send Zhao more tokens follows the growth of BNB Smart Chain trading activity, which has produced several highly active assets.

Zhao’s influence often leads to dramatic token rallies, so multiple projects are fighting for attention. Since his BNB Smart Chain wallet is public, it receives new transactions every few minutes. Most of the tokens are valued at under $100, but some may have a 100X rally, as is usual with meme tokens.
