Abu Dhabi makes $3.5 billion commitment to power government services with AI by 2027
  • Abu Dhabi government announced plans to spend $3.5 billion on digital innovation.

The UAE government has announced that it will evolve into an AI-powered government as part of the Abu Dhabi Government Digital Strategy 2025-2027. It plans to invest $3.5 billion (AED13 billion) during that period.

The Department of Government Enablement- Abu Dhabi (DGE) will spearhead the campaign to integrate AI into governmental services. It will also work in collaboration with other Abu Dhabi governmental entities.

Abu Dhabi to establish 100% cloud computing capacity 

The Abu Dhabi governmental strategy seeks to create a flexible and scalable foundation to achieve 100% adoption of sovereign cloud computing for government operations and digitizing and automating processes.

The roadmap also includes developing a unified digital enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform to streamline processes and enhance productivity and efficiency.

As per the press release, the strategy aims to position the emirate as a global leader in AI-driven government and will allocate $3.5 billion, equivalent to AED13 billion, between 2025 and 2027 to foster innovation and technology adoption in the emirate.

Abu Dhabi to enable AI solutions across government services 

The Abu Dhabi government will implement 200 innovative AI solutions across governmental services as well as invest in training and empowering citizens in AI applications.

The government hopes to solidify its position as a global hub for AI-driven innovation. The strategy also promotes the development of robust digital guidelines and frameworks to ensure the highest cybersecurity standards to anticipate and address future challenges efficiently.

His Excellency Ahmed Hisham Al Kuttab, Chairman of the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi (DGE), stated, “The Abu Dhabi Government Digital Strategy 2025-2027 reflects our leadership’s vision of being an AI-native government, seamlessly integrating AI across all government systems for a future that is proactive, agile and fully technology-enabled. By incorporating AI, cloud technologies, and data-driven insights into our government’s DNA, we will transform public service delivery, optimize government operations, and drive sustainable economic growth.”

In the UAE, it is estimated that the artificial intelligence market could reach $1.26 billion projections by 2025. The market size is expected to show an annual growth rate (CAGR 2025-2030) of 27.80%, resulting in a market volume of $4.3 billion by 2030.

Abdallah Abu-Sheikh, Founder of Astra Tech and CEO of Botim, said that AI is projected to have a transformative impact on the UAE’s economy, contributing up to 14% of its GDP by 2030, which is equivalent to approximately $100 billion (AED367 billion).
