According to Mythical Games, the studio behind the smash hit NFL Rivals season 2, the officially licensed NFL video game will launch on September 5, alongside the start of the 2024 NFL season. The executive producer Billy Schautz claimed that the multiplayer mode would be a “game changer.”
Schautz added that the roster-building feature would be powered by an expanded version of the Synergy System. According to the NFL Rivals’ executive producer, these new features were aimed at raising player experiences to a higher level where fans could engage through cooperative and competitive play.
Expansion of the Synergy System and the Multiplayer Mode headline new features
NFL Rivals affirmed that it was leveraging the huge success of the game’s first season which saw over 115 billion games played and more than 5 million downloads. Schautz revealed that the upcoming NFL Y2 release included the long-anticipated multiplayer mode that would introduce new and fun ways for gamers to compete or cooperate. NFL Rivals confirmed that the Synergy System would be expanded to power the game’s roster builder.
The NFL Rivals team also asserted that it would offer amazing partnerships along with a ‘community refresh’ that would provide NFL fans with fresh opportunities to engage with their favorite sport.

The VP of Business & Legal Affairs at NFL Players Inc., Sophie Gage, emphasized that the NFL Rivals’ magic was grounded in how it brought fans closer to their beloved game and NFL players. She added that the mobile game’s authenticity fueled its success and drove its growth.
NFL Rivals introduces “Road to the Playoffs” and season-long rewards
NFL Rivals promised to deliver an even more ‘immersive experience’ in Year 2 with the inclusion of distinctive pack drops/offerings and gameplay modes. NFL Rivals announced that its partnership with the Kansas City Chiefs (Super Bowl LVIII Champions) would also be launched on September 5 as the new 2024 NFL season kicked off. NFL Rivals asserted that this would be an effort to reach fans and further enhance the connection between on-field football excitement and the mobile game.
According to Mythical Games, the “Road to the Playoffs” in Y2 would play a little differently than players were used to. Notably, Mythical Games disclosed that there would neither be a program currency nor a program store to purchase from, but the Power Pass would be available at the same price with the same volume of rewards and double the progression speed. Each event in the Road to the Playoffs program would be a Legendary Hero event.

NFL Rivals revealed that the Road to the Playoffs season mode integrated rewards throughout the actual NFL postseason. Mythical Games affirmed that fans would get to enjoy the new features and modes when the latest version of NFL Rivals Year 2 launched on Android and iOS platforms on September 5.
