Question 1

Accepted Answer

Yes. Executive Vice President Stella Li confirmed in a recent interview that BYD is developing humanoid robots internally, with a dedicated robot division established in June 2025 and a research team hiring engineers in algorithms, structural design, and simulation.

Question 2

Accepted Answer

BYD intends to leverage its existing auto dealer network to sell robots directly to households once the technology matures. This gives it a built-in retail channel that standalone robotics companies lack.

Question 3

Accepted Answer

Tesla is developing its Optimus robot, Hyundai Motor Group is deploying Boston Dynamics' Atlas in smart factories, and in China, Chery's Aimoga brand has already started selling a consumer humanoid robot priced at roughly $42,260.

Question 4

Accepted Answer

Autonomous driving systems and robot perception draw on the same technical foundations: processing environmental data, identifying optimal paths, and reacting to unexpected conditions. Automakers also bring existing supply chains for precision motors, batteries, and gearboxes that can sharply reduce robot hardware costs.

Question 5

Accepted Answer

BYD has not disclosed a timeline for its first robot prototype or commercial deployment. The company is using its own factories as testing grounds first before expanding to consumer markets.
