Melania Trump celebrated Bitcoin despite husband’s criticism

TL;DR

TL;DR Breakdown

  • Melania Trump lauds Bitcoin on 13th anniversary.
  • Ex-First Lady continues to show support for crypto.

Melania Trump, wife of former US President Donald Trump, a known crypto critic, has turned against her husband to laud the flagship cryptocurrency, Bitcoin.

On Monday, the crypto community marked Bitcoin’s 13th Anniversary since the Genesis Block in the event that saw Melania Trump marvel at Satoshi Nakamoto’s life-changing invention.

Melania Trump shared a picture of Block 0. She wished the community a happy anniversary as she cements her place as a force to reckon with in the blockchain industry.

“It is widely reported that Bitcoin’s market cap exceeds $1 Trillion. Today marks the 13th Anniversary of the Bitcoin Genesis Block. Happy Anniversary.” she tweeted.

While many in the crypto community were pleased about her comments, a number of critics reflecting her husband’s opinion made disparaging comments on her post.

“Your husband thinks bitcoin is hugely dangerous to the USD. And he is right. But as it is widely reported, the USD is losing value at a rapid pace. We are going to need something strong to replace it. That’s why Satoshi created Bitcoin,” one tweep responded in a subtle jibe to ex-president Trump.

Trump: Bitcoin Genesis Block

Bitcoin was launched by pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto on January 3, 2009.

The first block of the Bitcoin blockchain, known as the “genesis block” was believed to be mined by the anonymous founder, whose identity remains a mystery to date and has been subject to endless speculation.
Satoshi Nakamoto included the headline of that day’s paper in the block.

“The Times; 03/Jan/2009- Chancellor on the brink of second bailout for banks.”

Although shrouded with mystery, this headline has received a range of interpretations. Some users believe that it is proof that the block was created on January 3, 2009; that it is perhaps a reminder of why Bitcoin is important; while others believe that it suggests that Bitcoin’s creator lived in the United Kingdom.
