  • Lawyer weighs factors for SBF’s prison location, harsh reality looms.
  • Authorities consider needs, and witnesses in proposing SBF’s prison facility.
  • Limited sentence reduction for good behavior, house arrest doesn’t count.

The famous Crypto Criminal Defense Lawyer Carlo D’Angelo tweeted his opinions concerning the situation of Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of FTX, who is currently being sentenced. D’Angelo had a quite comprehensive interview with Tiffany Fong, a well-known independent journalist covering issues of crypto crimes.

Deciding SBF’s prison location

According to what D’Angleo had said to Fong, factors would play an important role in where Bankman-Fried goes except for not much else. It came to be clarified that the Bureau of Prisons would propose the place of commitment for the criminal with few factors taken into consideration.

Defense lawyers can also include factors that have been considered by authorities, such as who else is currently in prison. Therefore, they would know if witnesses who started estranging Bankman-Fried after his trial and corroborated the prosecution were in the same prison. He brought up the question of whether putting Fraud-of-the-year in the same space as witnesses would tie their tales together.

Navigating federal prison sentencing

D’Angelo may point to the importance of serving a sentence that reflects the convict’s particular needs connected to their mental health issues. Consequently, he would have been able to churn him to where his needs could be accommodated. The litigation expert was of the view that although Ruben D’Angelo will have the society life he is used to, he will have to share his life with some inmates and life would be far different from what he is used to.

Capital punishment is a total sentence that makes it really hard for the authorities since one cannot settle for the harshness and brutalizing factor as a solution. He laid out the specifics: The time credits shall not be counted for the duration in which Bankman-Fried was under house arrest.

Besides the fact that the defense counsel declared as well that the U.S.’s federal system had done away with parole sentences that are in prison. He did say that a good time can be maintained as the current detention officer of the Federal Bureau of Prisons if Bankman-Fried would not misbehave during his stay. Nevertheless, he maintained that apart from the usual one-fifth reduction, the actual remaining jail term for those like Bankman-Fried should be 85% within the correctional facilities.
