The worst thing about gaming is the endless waiting. It constantly feels like the best games are just around the corner, and yet every time that corner is turned, there’s another one to be traversed, and then another. When do you actually get to play the infernal game? In the case of some titles (ohai there GTA) the wait goes on, but with others, the release date is in sight and the agony is almost over.
For many of this year’s most anticipated web3 games, it’s now a matter of weeks until they drop and, thanks to trailers and teaser footage, we already have a good idea of what they’re gonna look like. For the four profiled here – one of which is already live – expectations are high from their expectant communities. Thankfully, the quality of gameplay looks equally high if early indications are anything to go on. The following four will light up your screen this summer and keep you entertained for weeks on end.
FIFA Rivals
If you love soccer, FIFA Rivals is likely already on your radar – whether you’re a hardcore web3 gamer or not. Assuming you have a penchant for the beautiful game – and since 5 billion people do that’s a very good chance – then FIFA Rivals is the only game you should be simping over this summer. The tl;dr on why it’s so hype goes like this: it’s made by Mythical Games, who turned NFL Rivals into a multi-million downloaded smash hit and now they’re about to replicate the feat with the soccer equivalent.
Of course, whether you refer to the NFL as football or FIFA as football is one of these contentious issues we’ll skip past, but know this much: possibly no web3 game is more eagerly anticipated this year and for good reason. Mythical have the Midas touch, with everything they turn their hands to earning acclaim. While it’s not in the back of the net yet, there’s a very high chance that FIFA Rivals – which combines arcade gameplay with fantasy football team-building – will be the game that puts web3 firmly on the map.
RavenQuest
Much of the web3 games under production and already on the market are MMORPGs. It’s a genre that lends itself well to the format, with blockchain’s ability to tokenize key components, from crafting to acquiring rare weaponry, effectively enhancing the playing experience and rewarding players who’ve put in long hours leveling up their character. RavenQuest, whose release is scheduled for March, doesn’t mess with that format but it looks like freshening it up.
While the graphics are more retro than refined, the world looks vast and the mechanics underpinning character development adroit. RavenQuest is the sort of release you could put long hours into, with a lore that hooks you and draws you in the deeper you get into its fantasy world. The key to triumphing is to skillfully mix and match the three core archetypes that dictate your character’s capabilities, from Dreadknight to Shadowstriker. RavenQuest will take you back to the MMORPGs of your youth and leave a warm feeling in your stomach.
Nifty Island
While the Play-to-Earn moniker has gone out of fashion, Nifty Island is to all intents and purposes a P2E title but with a twist – it’s one where the focus remains on playing for pleasure, with the earning part merely a bonus. There’s a whole lotta work gone into the development of Nifty, whose name is a misnomer: it’s much more than an island. This is a veritable ecosystem that’s rich in content, players, quests, and all the other components that go into a successful web3 game.
Ronin integration has enhanced the GameFi credentials of Nifty Island, while the game itself has just had a major upgrade with enhanced tokenomics and rewards for hardcore players. While currently live, the best of Nifty Island is still to come as its developer team continue to refine core gameplay and add new features that will allow players to extract even more value from this community game that gives a nod to Roblox while allowing players to use their favorite NFTs as characters within the game. In doing so it effectively combines the best of crypto culture and video gaming to delicious effect.
BadMad Robots
If the name alone doesn’t make you want to log in and start blasting away, you ain’t no gamer. With the official release just weeks – or possibly even days – away, BadMad Robots is finally ready to show the web3 world what it’s capable of. Its sizable community have been champing at the bit to get their hands on Robots, with the teasers shared on social serving only to heighten the anticipation. A free-to-play multiplayer shooter, BMR features riotous robots that are on the rampage and only you and your crew can stop them.
After Mythical Games’ FIFA Rivals, MadBad Robots must surely go down as the most hyped web3 game of the year judging by the queues that formed at the recent NFT Paris 2025 booth to catch the action. The imminent closed beta of MBR will be followed by the game’s full release later this year. The FPS gameplay that lucky fans have had a chance to experience at events lately has earned a resounding thumbs up. If it were just a standard video game, there’s a high chance that MBR would be a hit. As a web3 title, it’s set to dominate the charts.
With FIFA Rivals, Raven Quest, Nifty Island, and MadBad Robots either on the verge of launching or finally here, it’s shaping up to be a great summer for web3 gamers. These titles will keep you entertained through the rest of this year and well into 2026. By that point, who knows what other long-awaited games will have arrived to occupy you – perhaps even GTA. Stranger things have happened.
