According to Embracer Group, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was expected to be released around Christmas this year. However, it was later delayed until 2026 to add more polish and ensure players get the best experience after the release.Â
Embracer expects Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra to generate significant revenue but lower margins due to shared economics with other partners. The company continued to hint at a third AAA status game to be released in the same financial year, 2025/26, but in a later quarter. They expect the game to have financial dynamics similar to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The Group revealed nine AAA games are in line for release in the next four years.Â
Embracer plans to carve out Coffee Stain Group into a standalone company
In 2024, Embracer Group announced a split into three companies: Coffee Stain and Friends, Middle-earth Enterprises, and Asmodee Group. The company revealed today that it will spin off Coffee Stain Group into a standalone company by the end of the year.  Â
The firm believes this strategic move to split the companies will allow Coffee Stain Group to focus on its core strength as a passionate game developer and publisher focused on delivering a high-quality experience.Â
According to the firm’s financial report, Middle-earth Enterprises will be renamed Fellowship Entertainment. This new entity will unite top creators and intellectual properties to build unforgettable fan experiences.
The report revealed that their strategy is to transform into a powerhouse group with game development and publishing at its core, supported by transmedia capabilities within IP licensing, comics, merchandise, film, and distribution.
Following a huge acquisition spree several years ago, Embracer suffered a significant $2 billion investment collapse with a Saudi Arabian firm, Savvy Games. In response, Embracer laid off thousands of staff and shut down studios such as Saints Row developer Volition Games. In March, the company-owned Eidos-Montreal announced the layoff of 75 staff members, citing a lack of capacity to reallocate them to their other ongoing projects and services.Â
Despite the good news, the company’s financial update revealed that net sales went down year after year by -18 %, with PC and console game sales taking the most significant hit of -21 %. Net sales for the quarter were SEK 5,386 million, down by 6 %, and the PC and Console games business recorded SEK 3,069 million in sales, down by 2%.Â
Earnings Before Interest and Taxes were 4322 million SEK, compared to a loss of 13,344 million SEK last year. CEO Lars Wingefors considered the results a solid end to the year, with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 outperforming in Q4, reaching 3 million sold copies after the end of the quarter.
