Don’t Miss FIFA Womens World Cup 2023

The month-long tournament kicked off on July 20 and concludes with the Women’s World Cup Final on August 20 in Sydney, Australia. The 2023 Women’s World Cup features 32 teams in eight different groups. 

This is a celebration of how far womens soccer has become in recent years. In 22/23 we have seen record-breaking transfers, attendances, and global television viewing figures reach an all-time high. In the 2019 world cup, the final was the most watched match ever in soccer with a viewership of 82 million.

Players To Look out For In The Womens World Cup

As the womens soccer has grown, so has the competitiveness of the players and we are seeing players coming through the ranks performing at the highest level. During the 2023 tournament we are sure to see some outstanding performances by all the players.  Besides the likes of renowned soccer dynamos like Alex Morgan of the USA and Alexia Putellas from Spain, there are many young players to look out for.  Look at these rising stars:

Julie Brand – Germany

In late 2022, the 20 year old was named Europe’s first-ever ‘Golden Girl’. She is a fast-paced winger that has shown her impact on the team by coming off the bench in the last minutes of the VFL Wolfberg v Arsenal semi-final to bring her team to a win. She is sure to play a big part in Germanys tournament.

Melchey Dumornay – Haiti

At only 19 this soccer super-power has technical ability second to none. Which was seen by Lyons who have bought her over from this upcoming summer season. She is excellent in tight areas and attacking the space behind defenders, as well as a pure striker of the ball. An asset in any lineup.

Kyra Conney-Cross

Despite Cooney-Cross’ being just 21 years old she plays in the middle of the park with the composure of a veteran. Not only is she highly competitive but she will also be playing on home soil making her a double threat.

Linda Caceido – Colombia

Just this year the 18 year old was transferred to Real Madrid womens team to compete in La Liga F. In addition she has already demonstrated her talent on the big stage when she was named the best player at the 2022 Copa America Femenina.  She will sure to be instrumental in Colombias return to the World cup.
