Visa is hiring “Readiness Lead” to drive its crypto business

TL;DR

TL;DR Breakdown:

  • Visa is hiring another cryptocurrency expert to lead its crypto ecosystem team.
  • The payment company has previously made strategic hires to strengthen its crypto initiative.

As with some other financial institutions, payment giant Visa has demonstrated interest to reposition itself to blend with cryptocurrencies. Recently, it partnered with digital wallets and crypto exchanges under its card program to expedite crypto-to-fiat conversion. To date, the company has continued to onboard professionals to drive its crypto initiative.

A recent job listing shows the company is seeking another crypto professional as “Director, Visa Crypto Ecosystem Readiness Lead.” Visa mentioned that the candidate should be highly analytical, fluent in cryptocurrency, and an excellent problem solver.

With this office, the crypto expert will be responsible for creating and growing new revenue streams for the company through its crypto products, developing and expanding strategies to accelerate the company’s cards acceptance by crypto platforms like exchanges, wallets, NFT marketplaces, and others.

Visa is cementing its crypto presence

Over the recent months, the payment giant has focused on building its cryptocurrency team and relationships with big-name companies in the crypto industry like Coinbase, FTX, Crypto.com, etc. It’s clearly distinct that the company is committed to becoming the go-to on and off-ramp channel for fiat and digital currencies.

“We want to be an on-ramp and an off-ramp between the regular world and the crypto world,” said Oliver Jenkyn, Visa’s executive vice president.

Perhaps, this commitment to the cryptocurrency industry would form a somewhat symbiotic relationship as the payment company stands to get new revenue opportunities while enabling crypto users a medium to easily convert and spend their digital currencies.

In March, Visa began accepting USDC stablecoin as a settlement currency, which meant that its crypto-native partners do not have to convert to fiat for users to spend through its cards. However, they can be processed using stablecoin.
