Epic Web3 is proud to host the Modular & L2 Day on September 17, 2024, in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore. The Modular & L2 Day is one of the side events Epic Web3 will host during the TOKEN2049 Singapore, running from September 18 to 19. Epic Web3’s main partners for the side event are the TON Application Chain (TAC) and Nubit.
The event, meant for founders, developers, and blockchain, crypto, and web3 enthusiasts, will be an opportunity for learning, networking, and meaningful discussions on modular designs, modular blockchain stack, and layer 2 scaling solutions.
Epic Web3 has partnered with other blockchain companies to make the Modular & L2 Day a success. Some notable mentions include NEAR / Nuffle Labs, Across, Arcana, Manta, Movement, ZKM / Metis, Everclear, Somnia, and Avail, among others. Key speakers will also be from these companies, heading the discussion panels and workshops.
Modularity and L2 solutions as the main topic for Modular & L2 Day
Blockchains are realizing the problems in traditional and monolithic blockchains. Monolithic blockchains handle execution, settlement, and consensus on the same chain. With more adoption and user onboarding comes congestion and scalability issues. In turn, transaction speed and costs increase.
So far, layer 2 scaling solutions, including zkRollups, Optimism rollups, and plasma, have significantly improved scalability. However, blockchains are adopting modularity, which means a different chain handles every task (i.e., consensus, settlement, execution, and data availability). This architecture significantly reduces the problems in monolithic blockchains.
As a developing topic in the blockchain space, the Modular & L2 Day will mostly touch on modularity and layer 2 scaling solutions. Key areas speakers will touch on include:
- Overcoming modular-fragmentation
- Chain abstraction and ripples in the matrix
- Busting myths around Bitcoin rollups
- On-chain data utilization through zero-knowledge coprocessors
- Rollups as the final frontier of scaling
There will be four panel discussions as follows:
- Increasing optionality and customization with modularity
- The growth and adoption of layer 2 solutions
- Bringing the next 100 million users to DeFi
- Chain abstraction: Technological and practical implementations
Other topics during the side event
The event will also touch on key implementations to improve user experience. One such topic will be the ERC-7683 as a key to multi-chain Ethereum. Across’s Hart Lambur will lead the talk, which will delve into cross-chain intents, a proposal by Uniswap Labs and Across. ERC-7683 is supposed to be the standard for cross-chain intents, improving cohesion in cross-chain activity.
Nubit, a scalable data availability layer, will discuss how it can onboard the next million consumer apps. Somnia will explore how it can enable real-time applications on the EVM, while TAC will explain how it can enable 1 billion users to the EVM world. On the other hand, DapDap will highlight how it can simplify the on-chain experience with consumer apps.
